Leikeli47 is back with another project. For those unfamiliar, Leikeli47 is a rapper/singer out of New York who I first became familiar with in 2017 with the release of her first album Wash & Set. An album full of bangers that were often featured on shows like The Black Lady Sketch Show. Not only is she a strong lyricist with a sound unlike what you hear from most, but she also has a great singing voice that she weaves throughout her songs that are distinct for great production and bravado. When she first came out she donned a mask with cutouts for her eyes and mouth. She has since revealed herself and continued to make incredible music good for a night out or to serve as a soundtrack for the ego. This latest project which is 11 short tracks of pure heat. From the first listen I did not skip. I put it on in the car and let it ride. Her ability to fit her distinct tone within pounding bass and create visuals with her words, almost giving the feel of a movie soundtrack without the movie. From empowering records that serve as affirmations to the good ol’ New York brag-rap evolved and still feminine. Leikeli47 is an artist that should be everywhere, but it does not take away from her that she is not. She has a clear mark as an artist in being outside of whatever the current wave is. She makes the music that she wants to make and that many of us need to patch in to the more temporary music of today.

The project has no features, unless you count the song in which she features herself. My sole complaint is that some of the songs are not as long as I would like, but putting them on loop makes them the never-ending song that I need it to be. Whether you’re rolling through the streets tearing it up this summer or simply looking for inspiration, I highly recommend putting Lei Keli 47/For Promotional Use Only on and letting the vibe make you feel invincible. My favorite tracks are famous, queen, sandhills, and hnic. Do yourself a favor and add this album to your playlist. Thank me later.
