As we celebrate Black History Month, at present Black people are being faced with dealing with the ridiculous notion of DEI & how it has become a dog whistle for the continued & expanded discrimination of our people. We are watching in real time as many businesses bend the knee & eliminated DEI, which is a showing of bad faith to their Black customers, in spite of the fact that Black people only take up approximately 4% of positions granted through DEI. All the same, many are faced with trying to find alternatives to avoid supporting businesses that do not support us.
There are plenty of Black farmers & Black grocers throughout the U.S. that offer great alternatives to continuing to support large corporations outside of our community. In fact, the Black farmers association recently won a $2.2 Billion lawsuit against the U.S. government for discriminatory practices, as historically, Black farmers have not been afforded the same resources or support as white farmers. The fight, however, continues, with the National Black Farmers Association going to the court of appeals in Washington, D.C. on February 5th in order to gain even further restitution for the hardships they have had to face. For those in the DMV area, as well as those who can get there, they are asking for solidarity.
Below I will be providing links to resources to find local Black farmers & grocers near you, as well as those that provide shipping options for those do not have any within reach:

If there is any more information that anyone would like to share in reference to alternatives to the major chains & corporations, please comment below. Together we can help build our community & stop giving our dollars to those who do not value us.
