What a weekend! Saturday, we had the priviledge of attending the launch of The Unlocked Summit here in Chicago. The summit was presented by Asia Horne of EmpireLifeMag.com & Chatoya Antwine of A La Carte Galore & it was an excellent event for female entrepreneurs. If you were not there you truly missed an amazing Unlocked weekend experience.
The purpose of the summit was to be a “groundbreaking experience for the ultimate entrepreneurial woman”. The 2 day summit began Friday night with the Unlocked Lounge, which took place at Fleetwood Restaurant. It was a mixer with the participants & attendees of the summit. It featured an excellent dessert bar provided by sponsor Scratch My Batch – loved the White Chocolate Mascarpone Mousse. DJ Lip Gloss made it very difficult to remain seated as she spun jams that kept everyone up & out of their seats.
Saturday morning, The Unlocked Summit began bright & early. Each attendee was provided with a great gift bag. Once again sponsor DJ Lip Gloss was on hand with some great music. There was also amazing Mimosas & Juice courtesy of Eliet Mixes. Those Mango Pomegranate Mimosas were absolutely incredible. There was also breakfast provided by Dreamyvents. Then we settled in for 7 workshops.
The 7 workshops were given by the beautiful entrepreneurs who shared their experiences & wisdom. The workshops were “Networking, Supporting, & Expanding Your Brand” by the Leading Ladies of Chicago, which is comprised of Nikki Burnett, Jennifer Nashae, & Chiquita White, “Punch Fear In The Face” by Sheena Marie & Sheena Marie Beauty Studio managers, Elisa & Mimi, “Hustle Hard, Hustle Healthy” by Dr. Chantale & Dr. Gameli of Besties MD, “Selecting And Completing A Look” by Stacey Emerson, “Personal Strategic Planning: Your Roadmap To Success” by Chatoya Antwine of A La Carte Galore, “Tips For The Professional Naturalista” by Michelle Thames of Happily Ever Natural, “Building Your Brand Empire Strong” by Asia Horne of EmpireLifeMag.com, & “Branding For Believers Podcast” by Dr. Shante Bishop.
Each workshop was very fun & educational. The ladies dropped a lot of gems. The Leading Ladies of Chicago spoke about self-care, having a good financial background, collaborating with experts in your field & people with a similar vision, educating & investing in yourself, balance, using social media & networking. The fact that three women are able to come together to inspire & motivate others as well as motive & support one another impress me the most.
Sheena & her team talked about not letting fear hold you back, having people around to push you, being persistent, & being positive. Their success stories & the way that they each support & motivate one another is so amazing!
The ladies of Besties MD were very informative about remaining healthy, not abusing caffeine, getting rest, particularly in increments of 3, & dispelling the myth about alcohol relieving stress.
Stacey Emerson talked about building a brand you can believe in as well informed everyone that they were pregnant – but with a business instead of an actual baby,
Chatoya Antwine laid out the keys to financial success & good planning – budgeting & being organized is extremely important,
Michelle Thames told us how to be a fly with natural hair as well as introduced us to some of her favorite hair techiques & her blog, happilyevernatural.com.
Finally Asia Horne laid out how to build your brand into an empire – never knew the importance of selecting colors for your brand.
There was a very tasty lunch, catered by Food Diaries. Then we were treated to a bit of church while taping a podcast for Dr. Shante Bishop. She gave some truly incredible wisdom so be on the lookout for Branding For Believers podcast – we can’t wait to witness her presentation again
It was all wrapped up with a panel, moderated by Ariel Rainey where the ladies answered questions about being mompreneurs & building. They were joined by Mielle Organics CEO Monique Rodriguez and graphic designer Tahiti Spears who had a great deal of informative & wonderful things to say.
Overall, it was a truly amazing event. They hit on every level of being an entrepreneur & woman from a physical, mental, & spiritual standpoint. The energy was of pure love & support. Everybody had a good time, ate good food, & learned a good deal. There will be more events like this in the future that you will not want to miss. It was announced today via The Unlocked Summit Instagram that The Unlocked Summit will be coming to Detriot in February – be on the lookout for more details.
