Last night, we had the privileged of attending the Summer Fest 2015 starring Yo Gotti, Lil Durk & Lil Herb presented by PowerMove, SMG & Power 92. If you thought it couldn’t get any better than the Mega Fest starring Meek Mill & Young Jeezy, you were proven wrong last night.
Power 92’s very own DJ Pharris, Shaggy Nice, & DJ Nehpets all kept the crowd entertained & dancing up out their seats as they host & DJed. John Doe made the official announcement that Gucci Mane will be coming home soon and upon his release, there will be a Welcome Home Concert right here in Chicago. (More details coming soon in regards to the Gucci Mane Welcome Home concert).
Jo’Rodeo, who’s always great to see perform, kicked off the show performing his smash single, Billy along with other enjoyable singles off his upcoming mixtape, Rodeo vs. Rodie. With S Jones being the only female performer, she represented for all the ladies as she took over the stage & captured the crowd’s attention with her lyrics. Next, Bo Deal took the stage with the Klan as he let the crowd know that he only deals with real genuine people, despite where they’re from or what they represent. Waka Flocka was also in the building.
As Lil Herb took the stage, the entire crowd tried their hardest to get as close as they possibly could have to the stage. Although everyone was enjoying his performance, it was quite obvious, especially with it being relatively new, that Lil Herb was mourning the death of his friend/fellow rap artist Capo. He along with Bo Deal, Lil Durk & Yo Gotti all paid their respects to Capo during each of their performances.
SMG Entertainment took the stage as they proudly represented their entire SMG family and each supported one another as they individually performed & threw SMG shirts into the crowd.
As the crowd prepared for Lil Durk, Lil Reese surprised the crowd by coming out and performing with Lil Durk & the OTF movement. With Lil Durk being from Chicago, he performed more than singles off his album, Remember My Name, he performed singles that Chicagoans heard first in the beginning stage of his career. His latest signee, Hypno Carlito also took the stage to show the crowd what he was made off.
Finally the man of the hour, Yo Gotti took the stage representing CMG to the fullest. Early in his performance, he shouted every artist that performed out before him. From there, Yo Gotti took it back to the earlier stages of his career music wise as well as performing singles off his upcoming project. Yo Gotti really got the crowd involved with making each single he performed relatable to the crowd. He even brought out Memphis’ very own, Blac Youngsta who has been making a lot of noise down south. The crowd showed Yo Gotti so much love during his entire performance that he jumped down to shake the hands of as many fans as he possibly could before departing.
We truly enjoyed ourselves. The city showed up & showed out. And best of all, there was no violence. Shoutout to Yo Gotti, Lil Herb, Lil Durk, & all of the performers. Shoutout to John Doe, SMG & everyone else who made the Summerfest possible. And a special shoutout to Charismatic Solutions & Robin Snowden, PR extraordinaire as well as David Peterson Jr.
