Last night was the season 2 premiere of the Lifetime TV series, The Rap Game. We were extremely excited for this particular season due to Chicago’s very own, Nia Kay being a part & representing Chicago as a whole.
Unlike last season, Jermaine Dupri aka JD introduced 7 talented young rap artists: Lil Key, Nia Kay, Mini Barbie, Tally, Mani, Prince of New York & Jayla, who believe they each have what it takes to make it in the rap game & also sign to his label, So So Def. Although 7 rappers were introduced, only 5 would actually be chosen to compete for a chance to win.
Upon their arrival, each rapper immediately begin rapping in front of JD, Da Brat, Timbaland & a host of producers including Zaytoven & Bryan Michael Cox. Most of the young rappers really impressed the judges as they rapped some of their best lyrics.
After the 1st elimination, the remaining 6 rappers moved into their new home for the next 10 weeks & begin working on their rap assignments which was to put together a rap about their competition. Not only would the rappers rap in front of their peers, parents & JD, they would also rap in front of Snoop Dogg as well. The pressure was definitely on.
After a series of tries, JD made the final elimination leaving a total of 5 rappers. The remaining 5 don’t have to worry about possible elimination each week but they do have to worry about landing a top position on JD’s Hit Chart which will better their chances of winning the competition & signing with So So Def at the end.
This will definitely be yet another intense season as each rapper is talented & brings something different into The Rap Game.
The Rap Game airs Fridays at 10/9C on Lifetime.
