Normally, this would be the time that kids return back to school after being on winter break for 2 weeks. Most kids usually tend to be all excited seeing their friends and show off their gifts they received for Christmas, mainly new clothes, shoes and etc. But due to huge amounts of snow and below zero temperature…school closings does exist in the city of Chicago. I have never (or at least think) of a time where Chicago Public Schools has been closed due to bad weather. I remember past blizzards, semi hurricane type storms, heat waves type of weather occurring and there were announcements that schools were still open and if any schools were close, it was only certain schools but never any schools I went to. I remember waking up early just to watch the news to see which schools were closed, praying that mine would appear across the tv screen, which never happened. But this new generation got a heads up the night before that the schools are closed, oh don’t get it twisted…I’m not mad or hating one bit. It’s the employees of Chicago I feel sorry for.
Unfortunately there’s no such thing as Work Closings and your job would appear across the screen because of bad weather. What most of these employers thinking? A better question would be, will the employers even be at work? In weather like this it’s best to accommodate your employees and not have them risk their lives to come into a place where more than likely no one will even show up. Now if you’re a doctor, nurse, policeman, fireman, or anything of that nature, I advice you to pull your skies, snowboard, ice skates and whatever else that’s made for snow and get to sliding in your office…you may be needed. But if your job requires some office type work, call them up or even Skype them their assignments. Now if you just have a job that doesn’t impact people lives, stay at home and save your life. It’s too cold and the snow is too much. Be safe people and enjoy this time with your family and get something productive done. #TalkIsh
