Saleem Music Group & PowerMove have done it again! Last night at the UIC Pavilion they brought about the Reunion of many of the major acts of Roc-A-Fella Records. It was a historic occasion.
Any Hip Hop fan can understand what a major deal was to have these amazing acts from Roc-A-Fella’s prime come together to perform. Before they came out & graced the stage, DJ V-Dub got the crowd turnt up with some music, primarily from Chicago. Hosts Hustle Simmons & Leon Rogers came out, shouted out the city & encouraged people to dance. There were some early performances, most notably from rapper Aych & Saleem Music Group singing hits about taking off & the Instagram famous.
Not too long after, Sean Mac spun a few records to keep the crowd out of their seats until it was time for Dipset to grace the stage. First up was Jim Jones who came out & got it going with a few hits. He brought out G Herbo, who rapped a bit of his own music. Then Jim was joined by Juelz Santana who came out with a lot of energy. After doing a few of his hits, Cam’Ron came out, later joined by Freekey Zekey. They performed such hits as Oh Boy, the Dipset Anthem, The Whistle Song, & We Fly High. It was great to see the 4 of them back on stage.
After a brief intermission it was State Property’s turn. Beanie Sigel was the first one out on stage. After going through a few classics, he was joined by the Young Gunz’ Chris & Neef. After that came Omillio Sparks, Oschino & Peedi Crakk. Unfortunately, Freeway was not able to make it, but the remaining members of State Property showed love in his absence. They performed so many hits including Beanie, Tales Of A Hustler, No Better Love, It’s On, & Roc Da Mic.
Overall it was an incredible night that will hopefully be a part of a larger scale reunion. Also in attendance were Chicago rappers Katie Got Bandz & YP. Shout out to SMG & PowerMove for making the event happen. Another special shout out to John Doe, Charismatic Solutions, Robin Snowden & David Peterson Jr. for always showing love. The next major event will be Gucci Mane’s welcome hone concert. Keep your eyes open for that one.
