“Seem like they ain’t on that…n*ggas trippin off prozac…promethazyne & cognac, They know it all that brojack…finna grow my fro back…strengthen my hair n*gga know that…mouth a weapon like 4 gats…” (Melanin)
Landon Battles just dropped his mixtape BlackGold. Repping Chicago & tryna do things different, it does not sound like a lot of music out now, which was apparently the goal. He raps throughout the tape about getting away from the music that’s out now, which he feels does not have a lot of substance.
He talks about a lot of things & makes some controversial statements. He talks about the protesting, why he isn’t cool with Michael Jordan, senseless music, police & much more. In the first track Melanin he reveals his feeling that his skin in black gold, which I’m guessing lends to the name. He goes straight at today’s MCs, telling them to step their game up & bring the bars. He even jumps on J. Cole’s January 28th beat for My Soul. Other songs on the tape include Think I’m Ja Rule, Coming 4 Blood & single Get Yo Goof*ss Out My Face. The mixtape features Ras Kass, The Boy Illinois, GKnow Buie, & Riva Nyra.
