“I apologize…often womanize…took for my child to be born to see through a woman’s eyes…took for these natural twins to believe in miracles…took me too long for this song…I don’t deserve you…”
For the past few weeks all people have been talkng about is Jay-Z’s latest album 4:44. He initially released it only on Tidal & the subsequent videos were Tidal exclusives as well. The major song that has been discussed is the title track 4:44 which revealed a great deal about both Jay-Z & his marriage. He released the visuals to Vevo the other day & I believe that they are important for people to see. He talks openly in the song about his past wrongdoing & how it affected his family. It is an important song & visual because not many men are able to be so candid about themselves & their role in negatively effecting the woman that they love. Seeing someone like Jay-Z, a much admired figure who has been in a relationship that has been many people’s goals, be vulnerable & honest about his journey to becoming a better man can be an opportunity for other men to look at themselves & understand that for themselves & their loved ones they need to grow up. In the visuals there are many different clips, including some of Jay & Beyonce vibing together on stage. It all puts different things into perspective. He raps, “I harrass you while in Paris…please come back to Rome, you make it home…we talked for hours when you were on tour…please pick up the phone, pick up the phone…”.
