“Picture me rolling like Michelle Obama…you wanna be a star, I’m tryna be like my mama…so sufficient, independent, & strong…black & beautiful a la Nina Simone…see what they want you to do is believe I’m your competition when you competing with you…(Double Pedigree)”
Parkwood Entertainment’s resident rapper Ingrid has just released her EP entitled Trill Feels. The name is a perfect identifier for the sound & atmosphere generated by these tracks.
Repping Beyoncé’s label & her hometown of Houston, 3rd ward to be exact, Ingrid is out to claim her spot in the game. She has that smooth, southern drawl much like other rappers who have repped trill, such as UGK. The production on her tracks are different, a bit spacey & laid back. Her flow rides on top of them effortlessly & it completes the feel of the EP. She starts out with Double Pedigree, giving bars just in case you wondered if she had any. She then slips into a very summer, chill track called F.A.D. or F*ck All Day. From there she goes through a series of tracks that range from slick love talk to the epitome of Houston, Texas. To conclude the EP she ends with an inspirational track that will definitely help uplift & motivate called Change Things. The EP features Devin the Dude, Kirko Bangz, Sevyn Streeter, & James Fauntleroy. It’s definitely a good one for the summer.
