We were very fortunate to feature the Grammy award-winning poet, J. Ivy a few months ago. In the feature he spoke in-depth about an upcoming novel & its background which began with his relationship with his father.Well this week J. Ivy has blessed the world with the novel Dear Father: Breaking The Cycle of Pain.
Many people struggle with strained or non-existent relationships with their fathers. Too many of those people never deal with the pain of it & continue to suffer it their whole lives. J. Ivy has provided not only a novel, but also a website to start a discussion & the healing process.
Along with the book, J. Ivy started the website dearfatherletters.com. This site is there to encourage people to not only acknowledge their pain, but truly begin the healing process by writing letters to their fathers to express what they have never been able to. Whether your father is living or past, even if you’ve never met him, you can write the letter you’d hope he could read to understand your pain. However, Dear Father letters is not just for those with bad relationships with their father. Even if you have a great relationship with your father, you can still write to him & tell him exactly how you feel. The goal is 1 million submitted letters.
Aside from the letter writing, you may also get involved with those who struggle with their issues. Go to www.dearfathers.com & submit & get involved. Also tell anybody in your life who may need it to do the same.
The book is available on Amazon & Barnes and Noble. Get this great book & get involved in the movement to heal the pain of so many. Salute to J. Ivy & his great work.
