“Can’t see sh*t…it’s getting way too dark…I’m still leapin’…catch me boy I’m falling in love…now that my heart is vibin’…I wanna give it all away…(Angels & Demons)”
Tamar Braxton is back with her sophomore album titled Calling All Lovers. She did not hit a sophomore slump, but she did hit a home run.
If you listened to Love After War, you got a general idea of Tamar’s music. She does big time ballads & love songs, with an occasional bop. This go round she kept with the formula & it definitely works. There are plenty of love songs & slow jams for the lovers, but still some for people who are struggling in the love department.
Tamar just gives really good R&B, reminiscent of the golden era I’m always talking about: the 90s. She even samples SWV’s Right Here on the song Catfish. Aside from that, the girl is sanging. She hits some serious notes & runs throughout the album. Along with good vocals & production, the lyrics are great as well. I can already tell that these songs will be many couples’ songs. Then there’s the oh so clever S.O.N. or Sex Over Nonsense. Many will be feeling that one.
