“I got a mind full of TNT…I need a lunatic just like me…paint the sky with a brush fire, yeah…la la la la la la la la…(Criminal)”
Miguel has just released his fourth album, War & Leisure. Yet another addition to his growing catalog which is wild, free, yet heartfelt.
Miguel’s debut album came out in 2010 & it was a breath of fresh air at the time. It was not like what other people were putting out. It had a truer R&B feel than most of it. He came out being different & has only gotten moreso over time. With each album he has shown more of himself. His wild nature. What he calls a riot. There have been plenty of songs in his catalog that have aged well. This album is more of the same. There is still that comparison to Prince that keeps coming up. It’s the rock-tinged sound, the straight forward, sex driven lyrics, & reckless abandon. Some of his music can take a little time to get into. The instrumentation can come in a little hot. Overall, his album is a good experience. The album features Rick Ross, Kali Uchis, Travis Scott, Quin, J. Cole, & Salaam Remi.
War & Leisure is currently available at major music providers. Check out the video for latest single Now below:
