“Baby, baby, bae…I’m coming home to your tender sweet lovin…you’re my one & only lover…the world leaves a bitter taste in my mouth, girl…you’re the only one I want…I’m gonna be around…(Coming Home)”
Leon Bridges dropped his album Coming Home today. The title is extremely fitting because it certainly feels home-y.
Listening to this album is like stepping into a time machine. It’s from a different era of Blues & Gospel. It is a down home Soul that makes you feel like you’re dancing with somebody you love in a juke joint in Mississippi. It is hard to believe a young man could put together an album like this. It is strongly reminiscent of Sam Cooke, Otis Redding, & other classic R&B like that. You can envision Leon heading a band complete with a horn section. It is just feel good, spiritual music. I can’t even pick the sings apart. They all belong together on this album.
Definitely listen to Coming Home, it is too good to miss.
