“I’m losing my religion…thank God…I prayed about my decision…how odd…for the man with the mic…to be the man all his life…(Losing My Religion)”
Kirk Franklin is back with a new album entitled Losing My Religion. It’s an incredible album. Whatever you believe in, whether you go to church or not, this album is worth a listen.
This album has been called by some already Kirk Franklin’s best. It’s certainly up there. As always there are great vocals, great songwriting, & great production. In the opening poem Kirk talks about what it means to lose his religion. It has been said that religion is about man, not necessarily God. Kirk has refocused outside of the customs of the church & has set his sights & aspirations skyward. He continues to flex his incredible ability to bring church to the world & make truly inspiring, uplifting music.
There are so many fight songs that empower people to fight through their current circumstances & prevail. He speaks against judgement & even speaks on Black Lives Matter. The album features incredible vocals from not only his choir, but also Tasha Page-Lockhart, Zacardi Cortez, Kim Burrell, Lalah Hathaway, Sarah Reeves, Tasha Cobbs, & Tamela Mann.
Whatever your relationship to the church may be, this is a truly empowering album that will charge you up. Everybody loves to turn up, but every now & then you have to go a different, more positive route. Listen to this album. It will send you to a good place.
