“It ain’t hard to tell that I got the juice…got a moment, like godd*mn, ooh yeah…make em never have one up on you…I ain’t worried bout em so why are you?…(Say Less)”
Jacob Latimore has finally released his debut album, Connection. It was definitely worth the wait.
Jacob has been around for quite some time so it was hard for me to believe that he was just releasing an album. He’s been acting & singing for years. I don’t know what I expected when I hit play, but I found myself a bit surprised. The songs are not only really good, but they are giving some serious grown & sexy. I had to ask myself, then Google, how old he was now, because he’s on some grown man stuff. If you’re looking to hear from the cute young man from Black Nativity, you won’t find him here. Welp, he is 20 & has made that transition from teen star to adult. The songs on Connection are sensual R&B bops that range from late night slow jams to more up tempo, danceable songs. The connection he is trying to make is clear & he’s not going to be the only one “connecting” to these songs. He sings about relationship stuff, particularly what a lot of us in the social media age have to deal with. The whole album is good & cohesive. I can honestly say that I had no desire to hit skip even one time. Jacob took his time on this one & it is apparent in the content. It looks like his upcoming movie Collateral Beauty is not the only smash hit he’s about to have on his hands. The only feature on the album is by an artist named IshDARR.
Unfortunately for some, Connection is an Apple Music exclusive. It can be purchased on iTunes, of course. Check out the video for The Real below:
