“I had to tell myself to go & get it myself…I had to tell myself to go & get it myself…cuz I got tired of waiting on everyone else…I had to tell myself to go & get it myself…”
Finally D.R.A.M. has released is debut full length album Big Baby D.R.A.M. After having us Cha Cha & jam in general, we finally get to experience a long form work from this up & coming hitmaker.
For those who don’t know, D.R.A.M. stands for Does Real *ss Music. So far from what we have heard he has stayed true to that. It all started with his infectious jam Cha Cha, which was unfortunately overshadowed by Hotline Bling, but still very popular & a great introduction into D.R.A.M. He is being called a rapper, which may or may not be true, but he is certainly not afraid to show some vocals. His music is a strong mashup of Hip Hop & Soul & his lyrics are always real. The thing that I love about D.R.A.M.’s music is that it feels good. There is so much black joy in it & he is so honest that even when he says things that are on the edge you just have to laugh. He actually sings, “Do your boyfriend keep up your bill for you to do this Netflix & chill with me?” Like, what? But it’s funny & upbeat so it only halfway raises your eyebrows. I mean the album cover is him cheesing with an adorable dog. How can you not love this guy? He has dropped some EPs that people loved & if you did, you will definitely love the album. He continues to build on his story &, though there are Trap influences, he keeps it light hearted. Broccoli was absolutely one of the songs of the summer & it will not be your only jam on the album. He has songs featuring Young Thug, Erykah Badu, & Lil Yachty. If you need a pick me, you need to listen to Big Baby D.R.A.M.
Big Baby D.R.A.M. is currently available digitally everywhere. Check out his single Wifi featuring Erykah Badu below:
