Last year during Prom Season, quite a few people stood out & made a huge statement as they showed up & showed out. MK Money was one of those individuals as pictures & videos went viral of him & his date, Dreezy making their prom debut in a white drop top Rolls Royce wearing black & red – very classy & stunning at the same time. Not only does MK Money always seem to look the part, he assures others do so as well as he designs custom bomber jackets & clothing under his own fashion line, Kash Kouture that can be seen worn by some of Chicago’s most elite entertainers; Dreezy, Nia Kay, Lil Mouse, Queen Key & more. Lets get to know more about MK Money…
CITMI: Introduce yourself to the world. Let the people know who you are & what is it that you do.
MK Money: I am a Fashion Designer, a business man, and a US Navy sailor. I design jackets, and other articles of clothing while running a business, WHILE being an active duty service member. It’s very challenging at times, but I have great help. My Co-Founder, Essence Brown helps a lot in all aspects and I’m truly glad to have her. We work together well, and we create magic.
CITMI: What inspired you to become a fashion designer?
MK Money: I was always into fashion – always! I love clothes and I love how a jacket, or a hoodie, can change your whole attitude and how people look at you. Your look is everything. People can see your outfit and already have an idea of who you are without saying anything to you. That amazes me. I want people who wear my clothes to feel confident, and like they really do look like Kash.
CITMI: What is Kash Kouture?
MK Money: Kash Kouture is one of the hottest clothing lines coming out of Chicago. Period.
CITMI: Your customize bomber Kash Kouture jackets seem to be the talk of the town & just about everyone’s favorite. What does a customize bomber jacket consist of?
CITMI: Many of Chicago’s rising rappers have been seen wearing them. Tell us about a few individuals that can be seen supporting a bomber jacket that people are most familiar with.
MK Money: Nia Kay (Star of Rap Game Season 2), Queen Key, Lucci Vee (Erica from BGC9), Katie Got Bandz, Dreezy, Lil Mouse, Taia Gabrielle, and Asian Doll. And there will be more.
CITMI: Lets talk fashion for a second. You made a huge statement when you arrived to prom with Dreezy on your arm. What did you & Dreezy wear?
MK Money: Me and Dreez were going back and forth about what colors we were going to wear. And I was taking a celebrity, so I wanted to go all out. So what a lot of people don’t know, is that we originally were going to wear nude & red. My suit was two-toned, and when it was done getting designed it looked a hot ass mess. Two weeks before my prom. I was panicking and I knew the whole city was waiting for this prom and I couldn’t disappoint. So, I took a step back and went for a simpler look. Red and black, with red bottoms to match. Many people try to go above and beyond to stand out and look different, and most of the time they just look ghetto and/or ridiculous. Everything doesn’t have to do too much, and that taught me a lot when it came to designing clothes.
MK Money: I am dropping a back to school collection Late August. As for as new celebrity customs, I am currently chopping it up with King Louie & Matti Baybee. We will [also] be doing a pop up shop later this year.
