We were fortunate enough to talk ish with Singer…Audrey Vee!!! Audrey Vee is a aspiring singer that has such a soft, sweet and yet gentle voice that grabbed our attention almost immediately. Audrey Vee is truly someone that you want to become very familiar with because she’s definitely headed to the top in the Music Industry. Lets get to know Audrey Vee…
3 Voices: Introduce yourself to the world. Let the people know who Audrey Vee is and what Audrey Vee does.
Audrey Vee: My name is Audrey Valentine…I’m 21 years old, and I have a strong love and passion for music. I’m actually a recent college graduate! I just graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in May of this year, and it feels amazing. Now that I’ve achieved that goal, I am ready to share my gift to the world in full force, and hopefully be a blessing and role model to others in the process.
3 Voices: What inspired you to become a singer? Who are some artists that have influenced your career?
Audrey Vee: I’ve wanted to become a singer since I was exactly 5 years old. I remember the summer that Lauryn Hill’s debut album, “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill”, was released (1998). I knew every song, and every word to songs such as “Doo Wop” and “Ex-Factor”. But, what sparked something in me is that I knew how to hit every note, and every riff/run that she did. And I was only 5! My family was shocked that someone as young as I was could have the ability to do what I was able to do, and that is when we ALL realized I had a gift. My singing career has been inspired and influenced by many artists that came before me, such as Lauryn Hill, Aaliyah, Beyonce, Whitney Houston, Deneice Williams, Brandy, and the King himself – Michael Jackson.
3 Voices: What are some things that you actually sing about?
Audrey Vee: I like to sing about things that I’m going through, or have experienced. Such as falling in love, dealing with pain, heartbreak, etc. I also like to sing about things that others around me may be experiencing themselves.
3 Voices: Tell us about your single, Sunset. Can we possibly expect a visual for Sunset?
Audrey Vee: Sunset is literally my baby! The very first solo-song I recorded. It was released in August of 2013, so just over one year ago! It was written by myself, and produced by a VERY talented producer by the name of Nova, who is also an artist himself. I met him through my best friend who was getting his entire EP produced by Nov at the time, and began to form a work relationship/friendship with him that eventually sparked the creation of Sunset. I knew that I had a love for Reggae music, and I really liked the way R&B artists could make a Reggae track, but still stay true to their R&B roots (such as R. Kelly- Slow Wind, Beyonce- Baby Boy, etc.). Those are the songs that inspired me to do a record like Sunset. I had such incredible help making Sunset come to life, such as my vocal producer, D. Lylez, and my best friend, Kenny Thompson! They are both amazing R&B artists, and took much time with me in the studio to assist me in making Sunset what it turned out to be. I also owe a lot to my incredible engineer, Classick. I met him about a month prior to recording Sunset at his studio (Classick Studios), and I haven’t been able to stop recording with him since then! He’s such a joy to be around and work with. I definitely am planning something ridiculously dope for the visual! That may explain why it is taking me so long to actually achieve, I want this visual to be perfect in every way. I want to paint the picture that everyone sees of it inside their heads.
3 Voices: What’s next for you? Are there any exclusives you can share with us?
Audrey Vee: My main focus now is getting my EP finished. I decided to title it, “Love, Audrey”, because I want it to come off as a letter I’m writing to the world. Each song being an experience or emotion of mine, so that people can really dive into who I am as a person as well as an emerging artist in this industry. I expect to be finished with it by early-mid Winter, but I’m honestly not trying to rush this project. I want to put as much time and dedication into this project as I can, so when I decide that it is completely finished and ready to be shared with the world, that’s when I’ll decide to drop it! Lol
3 Voices: How can the people reach out to you on social media sites such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and etc.?
Audrey Vee: Everyone can reach out to me on Twitter and Instagram @MsAudreyVee! I’m not a big Facebook user at the moment, so giving my personal Facebook page information may not be very beneficial. But I use both Twitter and Instagram heavily.
And there you have it! You heard it all from Audrey Vee herself! Be sure to follow her on all social media sites and be on the lookout for Love, Audrey. Much success to you Audrey and keep in touch!
