We were fortunate enough to talk ish with Mishon!!! Mishon is no stranger in the entertainment industry and is known for his biggest hits such as Excuse Me Mama, Just A Kiss and Turn It Up which features Roscoe Dash. Mishon doesn’t just sing and dance on stage but he’s also starred in a few movies and televison shows such as Lincoln Heights. His latest film he’s in is called Frat Brothers which also stars Romeo Miller. Lets get to know Mishon…
3 Voices: You have been singing and performing on stage starting at an early age. When did you realize that your talent and that you should pursue a career in the music industry? Take us back to when you first got your record deal.
Mishon: As a child I knew that my voice was something special. I knew I could touch people’s hearts just like I did at every elementary school choir performance all the way to my great grand fathers funeral. I was 10 years old when my cousin discovered my talent for singing, dancing, and entertaining and signed me to Dynasty Records.
3 Voices: You were on the NBC show, America’s Most Talented Kid. How did you get started singing? What was it like being involved with the show?
Mishon: I first started singing literally around the house. My parents even say I picked habits of singing along to the radio as early as 4. I don’t know, in between being a kid and it’s something I grew to just love doing. AMTK was a show that gave me a look kind of into the focus and hustle that it often takes to be in this industry. It was a great learning experience.
3 Voices: We remember turning up to “Turn It Up” featuring Roscoe Dash, what was the success of that record like? Will you have more records like “Turn It Up” on your upcoming projects?
Mishon: Turn It Up was actually one of the first records of mine that I actually put in production and writing work. People have said they love the song and my video for it did good numbers. I feel like the record was a starting point when it comes to me as a performer bringing more energy.
3 Voices: You also starred on a really good TV series called Lincoln Heights. How did you get involved with that? Will you continue acting? What’s your ideal role that you would like to play in a movie?
Mishon: Lincoln Heights was my first major opportunity at acting. I auditioned multiple times until I was a solid principle role in the show, and I definitely made myself with the growth that I made during those four seasons. I have continued into my new movie where I play a leading role called Frat Brothers. You can buy it on iTunes. My ideal role is one which I get to save the world.
3 Voices: Yes! Very good movie. Tell us about your more recent music. We enjoyed Overtyme, tells us about that record. What is your current inspiration for music? What can you’re fans expect from your new music?
Mishon: Overtyme is my appreciation for that girl who never catches a break and gives her all for the better of her loved ones and dreams. My current inspiration for music is just living. The more we learn through our daily experiences and trials, the more we can actually give people something to want to experience with us. My fans can expect just that from my new music.
3 Voices: What is next for Mishon? Are there any exclusives you can share?
Mishon: Lol I’d love to be mysterious and say “who knows”, but I am working rigorously on my project right now and it’s coming together just how I want.
3 Voices: Lol! And we can respect that and we also look forward to it. How can the people reach Mishon on social media sites such as (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and etc.)?
