We were fortunate enough to talk ish with R&B Singer…J.Holiday!!! J.Holiday is no stranger in the music industry, he’s primarily known for his hit singles, “Bed”, “Suffocate” and “It’s Yours”, which all did exceptionally well on the charts. He was also featured on Fat Joe’s single, “I Won’t Tell”, which was another hit single. Lets catch up with J.Holiday…
3 Voices: Take us back to when you first realized your gift of singing. How did you first get started? Who were some of your musical influences?
J. Holiday: When I first realized I could sing I was probably about [between] 15 and 16. Prior to that, my older cousins use to get me to sing to the girls that they were trying to holler at when I was younger. So they’d be talking to a girl and then bring this little boy out to sing a song to impress them. After I realized that the girls liked the guys that could sing…oh it was on! So I entered my schools talent show and won. Influences are of course…Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Donny Hathaway, Jodeci & 2 PAC. Lol
3 Voices: Many people know you for your single, “Bed” which was a very huge hit. Did you expect for “Bed” to turn out the way that it did?
J. Holiday: I always felt Bed was a strong song from the moment I heard it…it felt great when I recorded it but I had no idea that it would take off the way it did. I’m blessed and thankful for it.
3 Voices: You’ve been in the music industry for quite some time now. What would you say has been your most memorable moment thus far?
J. Holiday: One of the most memorable moments was getting nominated for a Grammy as a new artist.
3 Voices: You released the album, Guilty Conscience this year. Tell us a little about the album. What is your favorite song?
J. Holiday: GC is an album that most people can relate to. There’s a song on there for everyone that strikes a cord in every aspect of a relationship. It’s a relationship story from my point of view…I wanted to share something with the fans to show that I’m still here making good quality R&B music. I never left. I have quite a few favorites: Heaven, Where Are You Now, Come Back Home…it all depends on what mood I’m in really. Lol
3 Voices: You recently released the official video for your single, “Where Are You Now”. Was there a point in your life where you could personally relate to Where Are You Now?
J. Holiday: I can definitely relate to Where Are you Now…I have loved and lost and had to ask where are you now at some point.
3 Voices: What’s next for you? Are there any exclusives you can share with us?
J. Holiday: I have my hands in a few pots at the moment stirring something up and I’m praying all goes well…I’ll just say it will be great for R&B. That’s all I can share…
