We were fortunate enough to talk ish with Rap Artist…TalentedAsKB!!! TalentedAsKB is video director of one of Chicago’s biggest film companies, Open World Films and also a recording artist. TalentedAsKB recently released a new mixtape called, “At The Crib With My OG” where most can perceive it as being at home with their mother or being at home with the infamous “Mary Jane”. Lets get to know more about TalentedAsKB…
3 Voices: Introduce yourself to the world. Let the people know who TalentedAsKB is and what TalentedAsKB does.
TalentedAsKB: My name is TalentedAsKB, I’m a visual recording artist by that I’m in one of leading filming companies in Chicago [that] goes by the name of Open World Films. I just dropped a tape called “At The Crib With My OG”.
3 Voices: What inspired you to become an artist?
TalentedAsKB: Really my friends. Back in high school…while my junior year, they really influenced me…them the ones here right now, so that’s what really motivates me and inspires me to keep making great music.
3 Voices: Who are some artists that have influenced your music career?
TalentedAsKB: Mostly my peers…my friends…my squad. Toni Romiti, Chris Smith Jr., Monte Booker, my engineer HeadAche. So mainly my peers at Classick Studios.
3 Voices: If given the opportunity to work with any three artists, who would those three artists consist of?
TalentedAsKB: Wow…CurrenSy, it would have to be CurrenSy. Producer…I like Ye and Metro Boomin. Kanye always been a big influence on me…I really like his versatility to go from being on the mic and being a producer. Metro Boomin, I really like his sound he’s pushing right now with Future. I always been a CurrenSy fan just because I been a heavy smoker and everything. Just really putting his vibe in everything he put into the world.
3 Voices: Tell us about your recently released mixtape, “At The Crib Wit My OG”.
TalentedAsKB: Yeah, the mixtape took about like two years to make because I was in transitioning with working with my film company and we were building as much as like my music was building. So it both was going at the same time. I was in search for a name, I was thinking to myself like “I’m always at the crib and I always got tree on” so I came up with the title, At The Crib With My OG as a double entendre to mean that at some point in your life you’re going to be at the crib with your OG; your mom [or] a plant; marijuana.
3 Voices: Which is your favorite single from your mixtape?
TalentedAsKB: My favorite single…has to be the last song called “On My Own”produced by Alpha and featured by Chris Smith Jr. I like the song because it says on my own but really the verse is talking about how much of a team you need, how much positive energy you need around you to just keeping building yourself. It really represents the squad that’s making me.
3 Voices: What will be the next single you bring to life in a visual?
TalentedAsKB: Right now we’re working on a trailer for the whole tape like a movie, a mini movie series. I can’t say the next visual to come, but I do have a visual out right for the tape called “Rock Like That”on YouTube.
3 Voices: What’s next for you? Are there any exclusives you can share with us?
TalentedAsKB: Oh yeah, I’m working heavily with the squad lol. I’m working with Monte Booker and Chris Smith Jr. on a mixtape…it’s not final, it called “Function Music”. Everything is To Be Announced right now.
