We were fortunate enough to talk ish with Rap Artist…Chi Hoover!!! Chi Hoover is an artist that many people respect and support especially within his hometown, Chicago. Chi Hoover has been heavily involved with music from quite some time now and has worked with just about all of Chicago’s most well-known artists from Jeremih to King Louie and etc. All the love that Chi Hoover receives is loved earned, nothing was ever given to him according to his latest mixtape, “No Luv Giving”. Lets get to know more about Chi Hoover…
3 Voices: Introduce yourself to the world. Let the people know who Chi Hoover is and what Chi Hoover does.
Chi Hoover: I’m Chi Hoover man…I go by the name of Chi Hoover. I been doing this rap sh*t for like a good 15 years, I been writing for the last 5 years but I just recently dropped a mixtape called “No Luv Giving”. I’m from Chicago…[trying] get people familiar with who I am,[from] when I first came out with Louie and a few various artists like Jeremih…just various artists. That’s my story from the most part of it.
3 Voices: What inspired you to become an artist?
Chi Hoover: Well music has always been like a part of my life…music is like a feeling to me. I just love music. Just seeing a lot of artists around me…like Jay Z, Bump J, and like just different artists who came out inspired me to do what I did. I just got a love for music so that’s really like my inspiration….just having love for it.
3 Voices: Growing up who are some artists you listened to? Who are some artists that influenced your music career?
Chi Hoover: Well like I just said, Jay Z, Bump, a little Biggie but I was like under The Lox you know what I mean…I listen to a lot of R&B that range from different artists like Usher, Sisqo, you know, all type of sh*t.
3 Voices: You have worked with quite a few artists, especially from Chicago. Who are three artists that you would collaborate with that you already haven’t?
Chi Hoover: Right now, three artists that I would want to work with would be probably Meek Mill. You know I gotta work with a sexy R&B singer, somebody like Jhene Aiko with a sexy voice you know what I mean. And somebody like Kanye, somebody from my crib.
3 Voices: You and Jeremih collaborated once again on yet another smash single. Tell us about “Big Dawg Sh*t”.
Chi Hoover: The song “Big Dawg Sh*t” it came about we were in the studio just talking sh*t. We were just chilling and kicking back when J said he wanted to do a record that’s in his bag, he was in his bag at the moment. You hear a lot of talking about this and that…women lie, men lie, numbers don’t so sometimes you just gotta show your numbers. My mans been behind number ones for a minute, you know what I mean. Every time he dropped something it always went number one. So he was on some big dawg sh*t and we just got in there did something…I just talked some sh*t, I didn’t really rap on it as you can see like I just talked some sh*t and helped write.
3 Voices: You recently released your new mixtape, “No Love Giving”. Tell us about the mixtape.
Chi Hoover: The mixtape, “No Luv Giving” was inspired…I feel like I come from a city like Chicago where love is not given. So I feel like I didn’t have to give nobody nothing. People don’t show love in my city, so I felt like putting out something that was compared to like showing my city, no love giving. But, it’s like a model you know what I’m saying…love is not giving so I’m not giving you sh*t. I did this record…I did a few records on there that can touch the people in a certain way about how I feel at the moment. I collab with a few artists from around like Jizzle, she’s a LA artist…Jeremih and Louie as well…another artist from Chicago on the come up, Twilla and Bread Doe, just to mention a few though.
3 Voices: Which song would you say is your favorite from No Luv Giving?
Chi Hoover: My favorite song is actually “Mr. Fantastic Fox”. The record is just different…it’s like some different sh*t even when I play it, it’s like remember me. They said when Jesus died, He said ‘remember me’ so the record is really called Mr. Fantastic Fox Remember Me. And on the record I want you to remember me because back then, people wasn’t f*ckin’ with me, that’s why I said ‘…remember I had the hoopty back then, a bag of chips, quarter juice back then, b*tches wasn’t barely juicy back then, but I aint doing what I use to back then.’ You know what I’m sayin’, like remember me’.
3 Voices: What will be the next single that we can expect to see be brought to life in a visual?
Chi Hoover: Right now currently, I’m working on “Anymore Room”. I want to do something dedicated towards like Mike Brown…anything going towards the Mike Brown sh*t and what happened with that situation. I feel like that song, Anymore Room is gone touch the people…it’s for the moment right now and I feel like if I put that out right now, people will appreciate it.
3 Voices: What’s next for you? Are there any exclusives you can share with us?
Chi Hoover: Right now I’m under the attack, I didn’t want to let the cat loose but I’m working on a deal…working on a few deals on the table. I’m just weighing my options on the positive side because I been working a lot…I been doing a lot of writing. Just working on a few publishing deals but other than that, I would love to hit them with another mixtape. I want to at least give them a EP or something. I want to feed the people.
3 Voices: How can the people reach out to you on social media sites such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and etc.?
Chi Hoover: @chihooverbeam40k on Instagram. @Chi_Hoover on Twitter and that’s about it…them the only sites that I got. But Facebook is Chi Bean King Hoover but I don’t be on Facebook.
