We were fortunate enough to talk ish with Producer…D. Brook Exclusive!!! D. Brooks Exclusive has worked with some of the most well-known names in the music industry including working side by side with one of the hottest and most talked about female rap artist in Chicago right now, Dreezy. If a song has been officially marked “Produced by D. Brooks Exclusive” we know it’s a hit. Lets get to know D. Brooks Exclusive…
3 Voices: Introduce yourself to the world. Let the people know who D. Brooks is and what D. Brooks does.
D.Brooks Exclusive: I am D.Brooks Exclusive…producer, writer, and engineer.
3 Voices: What inspired you to become a producer? When did you realize your talent?
D.Brooks Exclusive: I started off playing instruments early. Maybe as early [as] 3 or 4 years old, playing the piano, playing the drums…stuff like that. I kinda like just grew into it, I would say.
3 Voices: You‘ve worked with some of the biggest names in the music industry. Tell us about some of the biggest songs that you have produced.
D.Brooks Exclusive: Well me and Dreezy, we did a dope song with Common called “No Good”…and that was a good look because I always looked up to Common and his music coming up as a shorty. And of course he worked with some of the greatest people that you can work with like Kanye, No ID…everybody. So that was a dope thing for me to work with him. We also got a song…me and Dreez, with Louie that I think is going to be real big, it’s not released yet but I think that’s gone be a real big song. Just because the content of it and how it sounds, so that’s gone be dope once it drops. But I did a lot of songs with some real dope people. I’ve been blessed to get in a good position to work with some dope people.
3 Voices: Is there anyone in particular that you would like to work with that you already haven’t?
D.Brooks Exclusive: I would like to do a song with Kanye because he’s dope in general and he from the Chi…that’s something I’ll look forward to doing. Besides that just, anybody who wanna work and who I can be creative with, be myself with…you know. I like trying new stuff with music and I like doing stuff that everybody else probably won’t do or take the time to do. I like just going different places with music. So [just] if anybody wanna be creative with me.
3 Voices: Dead or Alive, Name the ultimate collaboration that you would like to produce a song for?
D.Brooks Exclusive: Low key I always wanted to be able to do a song with Marvin Gaye even though he’s dead, I always listen to his music as a shorty. I always thought he was dope. Some of the music that I make, you can kind of hear him on or a sample…if he was to still be alive, that would be a dope person I would wanna work with. I would wanna work with R. Kelly too because he’s like a genius. Plus he’s from Chicago too, but it’s like there’s no limit to what he can do. Them the [type] of people I wanna work with. Michael Jackson, Prince…people who pushed themselves to be really great.
3 Voices: Tell us about The Winners Circle. For those who may not be fully aware, share a few things that The Winners Circle has accomplished and any possible things that The Winner Circle has coming up.
D. Brooks Exclusive: So the Winners Circle, that’s like my team or whatever, it’s also a music group. The Winners Circle Music Group that I started. But besides it being a actual company, that’s just like our team in general with me, Dreezy, KD Young Cocky, Lotice, Bamm and a few more artists that I’m developing [as well as] some models and actors like Sam, he goes by Mr. BET. Videographers, photographers…the things that define the winner’s circle, it’s like a group of young people that’s motivated and on their business. Showing people that [even though you’re] young, you can be on top of your business by trying to do something great and not just [like] the stereotype of Chicago right now, it’s real violent. Chicago has been like a real dark [place] especially to cities and states that’s not from here, so it’s like the winners circle is bringing something new to the city, you feel me. It’s not nothing negative, it’s young and gone motivate other people to get on they sh*t too…to do something better. It’s not like corny, it’s not like nothing goofy…it’s just real. Everybody that’s out here in the city aint gang banging and shooting, it’s people especially young people that’s on their business…trying to do something better. That’s what the Winners Circle represents.
3 Voices: What’s next for D. Brooks? Are there any exclusives that you can share with us?
D.Brooks Exclusive: So we just did Dreezy’s #SchizoLive, her first official headline concert. We actually got a couple of label deals in the works…well a lot of offers really. So we pretty much been weighing everything out, seeing which way we gone go with that. But outside of that, we working on Dreezy’s second project, we working on KD Young Cocky’s project [which] should be dropping this summer. I have some new artists that I’m bringing out this summer as well. We got #NoChill coming up, that’s directed by Cholly and the Winners Circle…it’s a live event Chill 3, that’s gone be on July 25th. It’s a lot of stuff that’s coming out really. We just pretty much just working and tryna have our hand in everything.
