We were fortunate enough to talk ish with Musician & Singer…Joonie!!! Joonie has been involved with music for quite some time now and has worked with a lot of well known artists such as Ruben Studdard, Nappy Roots, Angie Stone, and Mos Def. Joonie has a lot of things in store and definitely doesn’t show any signs of slowing down anytime soon. Let’s get to know Joonie…
3 Voices: Introduce yourself to the world. Let the people know who Joonie is and what Joonie does.
Joonie: Well the short answer to that would be that I’m a singer, songwriter, producer, musician, storyteller and love advocate. I express myself and create the tangible fantasy of perfect love through music and words.
3 Voices: What inspired you to become a singer? Who are some singers that have influenced your singing career?
Joonie: I started playing the piano when I was very young but had no interest in being a singer. As I got older I started doing production and couldn’t find anyone to sing on my music, so I had no choice but to try and sing on it myself in hopes of getting song placements. I started getting attention for my voice and the more I sang, the more I fell in love with doing it. Artist such as Nat King Cole and D’ Angelo are two of many who have influenced my music.
3 Voices: You worked with artists such as Ruben Studdard, Nappy Roots, Angie Stone and Mos Def. What was your most memorable moment out of all the artists you have worked with so far? Are there any specific artists that you would like to work with that you already haven’t?
Joonie: There’s a ton of memorable moments but I’d have to say touring the world with American Idol, Elliott Yamin has been the best so far. Exploring different places and seeing the fans response, to what you’ve created and orchestrated musically never gets old. I’d love to work with Jill, Scott and John Mayer in some capacity at some point.
3 Voices: You recently released a visual for your single, For You. Tell us about the concept for the video? Is there currently a woman who you feel that you can give your all to?
Joonie: I wanted to keep the video simple by bringing the viewer into a recording environment from a 1st hand, love interest view as we vibe together to the song. There’s definitely someone out there I could give my all to. God is good.
3 Voices: Tell us about your sophomore album, Contrast. What can your fans expect from this album? What’s your favorite single from Contrast?
Joonie: Contrast is nothing less than a “press play” album. The concept came from the idea of understanding the importance of balance in relationships. Breathing the good, weathering the bad and always making adjustments for a perfect picture in your commitment to that person… this is Contrast. All of them are favorites on the album but I’ve be been listening to “Wish Her The Best” a lot lately. Next week it’ll be a new one on repeat.
3 Voices: What’s next for Joonie? Are there any exclusives that you can share with us?
Joonie: A lot more shows, touring, more videos and more music.
3 Voices: How can the people reach out to you on social media sites such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and etc.?
