We were fortunately to talk ish with Chicago’s very own…Chicago King Dave!!! Chicago King Dave is better known from his movement he started right here in Chicago called Fuck Fame. Chicago King Dave has even been doing a lot of different things from hosting mix tapes, a clothing line, a blog site and so much more for a while now. Lets get to know Chicago King Dave…
3 Voices: How did you get started?
Chicago King Dave: I got started back going on a rant one day on twitter, about men being groupies and being worse than women. That’s where the Fuck Fame started from. I was at a event…Im at a show and there was a celebrity artist there and all the men was like being groupies! Begging for pictures…knocking the women down to take pictures, drinking off the other niggas bottles. I just went on a rant on twitter about it and that’s where it all started.
3 Voices: Women aren’t the only ones who are groupies as yall can see. Your clothing line & mixtape are called Fuck Fame. What does that mean to you? What do you want people to get from the brand?
Chicago King Dave: We support the city. The mix tapes, the blog site, the clothing line is all for the streets and artists like Bump, Blast, Twista and a lot of artists that put in a lot of work and basically it’s like a message to the kids like “Fuck Fame.” A lot of the kids, that’s what they killing for…just to be known as a killa. So I’m like Fuck Fame…Get Money!
3 Voices: Chicago is obviously very important to you, in what ways do you try to rep your city?
Chicago King Dave: In a positive way by not being like the regular barrier, but reaching my hands out to all the artists or somebody that’s working on a clothing line, somebody that’s working on a blog site, just basically reaching out my hand to anybody who is trying to do something. I give away free game, they say the game is really to be sold and not to be told, but our city is in so much trouble it’s about time that somebody give it away and not get all the game and say….nan nanny nan nan! Gitty up. I aint doing that. I’m tryna make sure a lot of people got jobs… spreading the wealth.
3 Voices: Yes. Share that wealth lol. What actually inspired you to start your own clothing line?
Chicago King Dave: When we came up with the logo, majority of the women were like I love that logo and like put it on a shirt so I did it and I wore it. From that day when I wore it in March, in April I started printing out my own for other people and from there I started selling them. It spread like a wildfire. Everybody in their momma wanted some Fuck Fame…they still do.
3 Voices: That’s so true. We see you have your own blog site, where you feature only Chicago artists. Explain that for us and how can a Chicago artist be a part of that?
Chicago King Dave: Basically its like showing the youth or other artists that’s working hard. It goes back to when I talked about giving away the game. If you don’t get on these blog sites, it’s gone be a hard time getting the internet buzz because as being bloggers, we run the internet really. Everybody look for blog for all their information so a lot of these artists didn’t even know how to submit their music for a blogger. So Chicago King Dave…I’m teaching them how to do it. They can call me on the phone and I’ll walk through it step by step of how to submit their music or they send me a mp3 I tell them to put artwork with it. Because normally they’ll just send their songs to Fakeshore Drive…Fakeshore Drive won’t post it because you just sent them a mp3… they don’t have no artwork and once I tell them that they be like ‘oh’ so it’s like im schooling them and it’s a confidence booster. They see how popular Fuck Fame is and they feel like ‘damn he putting us on his site, he fucks with us.’ So it’s really to give niggas some confidence…sometimes that’s all it takes. I aint nobody but to them they look at me like somebody so when they see somebody in my caliber and they can call me, im tossing they shit they rocking with it. Instead of standing on the block or loading that gun up…they go to the studio because they not feeling like fuck this shit. So that’s what my blog site doing.
3 Voices: That was definitely some useful knowledge you just gave them and I hope they took notes. What’s next for Chicago King Dave? Are there any exclusives that you can share with us?
Chicago King Dave: Basically I’m just grinding. Got many more mix tapes coming out. My birthday bash just recently passed. More Fuck Fame parties. Just grinding man…branding a branding.
