Jay Davis wears many hats in this entertainment industry and some of y’all didnt even know it. Well don’t worry by the time this interview over we guarantee you gonna have a whole new idea of who Jay Davis really is. 3 Voices: For does who might not know, let the world know exactly who Jay Davis really is?
Jay Davis: a writer / producer / actor / radio personality / sex symbol from Bellwood IL. I enjoy long walks in the park. Hog head cheese and I have a crush on Dee from the show What’s Happening.
3 Voices: LOL! We not gone ask why Dee from What’s Happening though. Next, You have quite a few things going on for yourself, from being a writer, producer, actor, comedian, and even the Co-founder of TP Radio 100. How do you maintain so many things at once? How you balance being so multitasked? Jay Davis: I break my jobs down within a 7 day week. Example I’ll focus 2-3 days just on writing either a screen play or sketch. 2-3 days on my radio show and station. My free day or two I brainstorm on different projects and events. I do find time to make sweet, sweet love as well.
3 Voices: LOL! We’re glad you make time for the sweet loving. But what made you decide that you wanted to get into, almost all of the entertainment categories there is basically, like you’re really doing it all? Is there anything you can’t do, we’re sure it’s a lot of things that you won’t do (well we hope that you wouldn’t do), so there’s no need to ask that lol.
Jay Davis: I always knew that I wanted to be in entertainment in some shape or form. I just didn’t know what exactly I wanted to do. I started writing short stories one day and just decided to film them. I got into radio because I was between film projects and I needed something to do. I did my first radio interview and realized that I could probably get people to listen to me. Only thing I wouldn’t do is make a snuff film…..People really don’t find those funny.
3 Voices: What were some of your first experiences in film making & how have you progressed since?
Jay Davis: For my first film The Hostile Takeover, about 15 people showed up to the casting call. Those 15 got in the movie. A year later I did a casting call for my second film, Shots Fired and 120 people showed up to the casting call. Now I get inboxes everyday from people asking to be in my next project. I received a lot of recognition from doing radio fast and people did not know I was a film maker. So I had to release sketches on youtube to let people know this is what I really do. Also, the amount of vagina I been getting has increased al ot to. Wait can I say vagina? Sorry my backspace key does not work.
3 Voices: LOL! Yeah we sure it doesn’t work. So tell us about The Misadventures of J. Davis
Jay Davis: The MisAdventures of J Davis was a series of true dating experiences, which I turned into a web series. They were short films, based on crazy events, with over the top outcomes. I shot about 9 episodes and from that, I created my first feature film (The Hostile Takeover) based off the characters from the web series. The Hostile Takeover is scheduled to be shown On-Demand via Dish Network in September of this year.
3 Voices: Who are some people that you would like to work with? And who’s some of your influences in the whole comedy industry?
Jay Davis: I’ll work with anyone that is dedicated and wants to work with me. Eddie Murphy, Richard Pryor, and Dave Chappelle are my biggest influences. In a perfect world, I would like to work with Sean Morgan, Leon Rogers, Baldhead and Lil Rel. I think a dope project could be produced with any one of those guys. I have enjoyed working with comedians like Calvin Evans, Lem Slaughter, and Comedian Spidah to name a few. These guys are not only funny on stage, but in front of a camera.
3 Voices: Yes! We were forunate enough to have Shawn Morgan as our first comedian feature. You have a sketch comedy show coming called Choke On That. What are some things that will make the sketches on the show?
Jay Davis: Choke On That was like a mixtape so to speak of all these sketches I shot and never released. I’m going to use those sketches as well as new sketches to put together the 1st season of a sketch show (Thirteen, 22 minute episodes) entitled the Jay Davis Show. The show will consist of uncensored sketches and will feature some stand up for a Chicago comedian or a musical performance at the end of each show.
3 Voices: How can the people reach out to Jay Davis through social media (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and etc.)?
Jay Davis: Facebook: Jay Davistp / Twitter: @JayDavistp / Instagram: JayDavistp We’ll there you have it people! You heard it all from Jay Davis, himself! We couldn’t make none of this up. Make sure you all check out every single thing that Jay Davis puts his hands on (entertainment wise). Jay Davis make sure you keep in touch with us and send out some of those shows because we are proud supporters of the whole bootleg movement. LOL!
