Last night we went out to Paul Robeson High School for Demi Lobo’s Kids Rock Awards. It was a great event for the kids.
For the 6th year, Demi Lobo and her mother, Kandi “KC” Conda have put on an event to inspire and help the kids. They brought out the kids to perform and then honored them with various awards & prizes. The event was hosted by talented singers Cherise & Malone. The red carpet was hosted by our former featured actor Gio Johnson and honoree Shamon Brown.
The kids who performed, and did an incredible job, were Kylen Horne, Laila Green, Divine Purpose Dance Group, Caitlyn Smith, Mesiyah Oduro, Bryana Martinez, Dorian Adams, Priscilla & Prischina Coleman, J’Aria Taylor, Final Explosion, Jordan Kennedy, Dramatiq Impaqt, Lil Prophet and Sandy Redd’s Mama’s Birds. These children were also honored with awards. Other honorees were Matthew Dav, Tyrice Rogers, DaQuan Lee, Nimari Burnett, Mehki Cobb, Jalen Causey, Adrianna Porter, Brea Steward, Calvin Holmes, Anyrah Lee, Imani Muse, Jimmy Lau, Laniyah Bailey, Terrell Walls, Kyndall Davis, Kobie Davis, Corey & Amira Shenault.
Other performers were pop artist & dancer T-Roc, featured rapper Lil Kaotik, & young R&B singer Syncere.
There was a special moment in the show where mothers who lost children to gun violence were honored by the non-profit Safe Streets. There was also a dedication to all of the parents who worked hard to make the show happen.
We would like to send a shoutout to Scott Steward & project tech teens. Also shoutout to featured entrepreneur Nikki Burnett & Hoop Lyfe as well as the company Ruby Brownstone who did an amazing job decorating the stage.
