Today is the day! This election has been hellish, but today it all comes to an end. It’s the moment of truth. Clinton or Trump? We have to get out & vote to decide.
I voted early, but for those who have not voted, it is essential. We can talk as much about the state of politics in this country as we want, but we have to vote. First of all, none of us have a choice when it comes to paying taxes. What we can have a choice in is who those tax dollars pay & who is in charge of them. People talk that same crap about our votes not counting, but if that were the case, then there would not be so much voter suppression. The voter ID laws & shortened polling hours, not to mention voter purging have all been in an attempt to dissuade us from voting. There are going to be Trump supporters out at the polls intimidating people. This should all tell you what your vote means. Our votes have worked for the last two elections, because you can bet if we had not gone out we would have a different president. So stop making excuses & acting nonchalant about voting. All of the clowns in office are your fault if you don’t vote.
Let’s just keep it real, your vote is what holds politicians accountable. Your vote is your voice. If you don’t vote, please don’t complain. You are a part of the problem. This effects you. These are the people making the decisions that govern your life. I have put forward my voice so that I can start the process of holding these people accountable. When the time comes I am going to have demands & make sure that whomever is in power is not free to abuse their position. It’s all good to sit on social media & go on & on about our problems to people who can’t do anything about them. There’s nothing noble about choosing not to participate in the political process because “my vote don’t count”. That’s a cop out & it’s ridiculous. Any change that has taken place in this country or anywhere has happened because people stood up & demanded it. It starts with a vote. Because I guarantee you all of Trump’s little minions will be out at the polls.
There is a deep sense of stress & dread in me. I am trying to make peace with whichever way this ends, but the deep disgust that this election has already evoked will only triple if I have to hear about that absurd bigot being our next president. It’s a real possibility & it’s sick. His whole campaign has brought out the worst in this country & his presidency will only expand on that. We have got to make the statement that this country may be deeply flawed, but we will not allow that level of ignorance & mediocrity be the head of this country. Not with that nonsense on his head. We cannot have a man trying to handle this country who can’t even handle Twitter or tanner. Hillary comes with her own set of problems, but her I can work with. She, at least, is reachable. We have got to do better for ourselves. We haven’t even recovered from Bush yet. Hell, we haven’t recovered from Nixon & Reagan. We have got to do better for ourselves & those coming behind us.
It’s not just about the presidential race today. Congress has been abysmal for years & we have got to turn it back blue. Vote democrats down the board, because it is clear that the GOP does not care. They have refused to do their jobs except when their own private interests are concerned. It’s time to get them out of there. There are also some really important initiatives on the ballots. Check yours & make the right decision. Today we make our next steps as a country. Be a part of the solution & make a decision. Don’t do nothing & act like that’s cool, it’s not. It’s time to put on your grownup pants & take responsibility for what’s coming next. Otherwise we are allowing things to go down the tubes. Things are about to change today. Let’s hope we make the right call.
If you have any problems voting, if someone tries to intimidate you, you take their picture & call 888-OUR-VOTE to report it. Do not take pictures inside of the voting booth, that will invalidate your vote. Let’s get out the vote.
