Last night was the season 3 premiere of Black Ink Crew Chicago on VH1. With all the tension & drama that’s been built throughout previous seasons, that didn’t stop cast members; Ryan Henry, Phor, Don, Van, Lily, Cobra & Jr. from coming out to Casey Morans to watch & celebrate the premiere of season 3 with family, friends & fans.
Before the show premiered, everyone mixed & mingled while the season 2 of Black Ink Crew Chicago ran it’s course in the background on several television screens throughout Casey Morans. Once the show aired, the cast positioned themselves on the rooftop accompanied by a series of supporters as they watched anxiously as they made their debut.
A lot has definitely changed on Black Ink Crew Chicago. For starters, Ryan is on a mission to expand & enhance himself & 9Mag. He’s also back with the mother of his child. Phor & his girlfriend Nikki are still going strong – she even has her own business in the same building as 9Mag. Don & Ashley are married now & Ashley has accepted Don’s daughter as her very own – things seem to finally be going well for the two until Ashley informed Don of wanting to be a stay-at-home mom. Kat moved to LA & opened her own tattoo shop – she appears to be doing very well. Charmaine has a new job & a new man – she seems happier than ever. Van appears to be having difficulties adjusting & accepting all the new changes in Chicago as a whole & 9Mag. Danielle is still with her man which seems to cause problems between her & Ryan which also leads to her being removed from 9Mag. The newest cast members: Lily, Cobra & Jr all seem to be getting along better with everyone else.
Special thanks to Catrice Armstrong of PR Werks & Briea Chanel for inviting us out. Definitely looking forward to seeing what happens next of Black Ink Crew Chicago. Tune in to VH1 every Wednesday night at 8/7c to watch new episodes.
Above are a few images from the Premiere Party.
Last week, we had the opportunity to sit in on the Englewood chapter of Toastmasters International right at Englewood Plaza’s new Whole Foods. It was yet another incredible reminder that in-spite of what you might hear, there is plenty of good going on in Englewood.
For those who are not familiar, Toastmasters International is an organization that specializes in communication & leadership development. It is a global organization with members across 15,900 clubs in 142 countries. Each local group involves programs that encourage leadership & help to enrich speaking skills as well as achieving goals. For those who need a group of supportive people, who like you are looking to become better & more effective leaders, then this is the organization for you.
As many may recognize, Englewood is a place ripe for people to rise up & help lead the community in positive ways. What we witnessed in the community room of Whole Foods was a group of individuals looking to do just that. They came together to challenge each other to rise to the occasion in a way that was without judgment. It was all about positivity & finding ways to effect change. As the members took on their roles, we got to see the beginning of a wonderful new tradition in a community where many don’t believe much good is happening. The entire atmosphere from the individual meeting to the entire location of Whole Foods was amazing to be a part of.
For the meeting, the members not only congregated to fellowship, but also took the time to sharpen their speech-making with impromptu speeches about questions that were presented to them. From there they formed their agenda & were inducted into roles to set the foundation for all that they would be achieving. The president of the district declared this year the year of prosperity & gave encouraging words to let everyone in the room know that by simply moving towards your goals, the tools will open up to you.
Outside of the group we got to see a great atmosphere & event in the store. Whole Foods Englewood has a storewide wine-tasting event every Friday from 5-7pm called 5 after 5. For only $5, you get to visit 5 stations around the store that offer samples of wine & food pairings. They also offer music. Issa vibe. If you bring your glass back the price goes down to $4. It’s a cool option for Friday nights. They even offer live music. It was so incredible to walk through that store. For those who don’t know, Englewood is a food desert, which means that it does not have a lot of options for fresh foods. Most people have to shop at convenience stores because they are what is close. It was amazing to see not only fresh foods at decent prices, but all kinds of organic options & other wellness necessities. There is a smoothie station & stations for fresh meet, eggs, pastries, & fish. The offer programming for the community as well. They even accept Link. It is truly an oasis in a desert. It warmed my heart to see.
Anyone who may be interested in joining the Greater Englewood Toastmasters International club, they meet on the 2nd & 4th Friday of each month at 6:30 pm. The regular meeting place is the Community Room of the 7th District Police Station on 63rd Street. For more information you can catch them on their Facebook or call 312-402-5405. This is a great group who are bound to do great things. If you want to be a part of positive change & leadership in Englewood, you need to join them. For a club nearest you, go to toastmasters.org.

Last night we had the privilege of going out to the Icon Theater on Roosevelt for the Chicago premiere of All Eyez On Me, the biopic based around the life & career of the late, great Tupac Shakur. Chicago showed up & out for this one!
Everybody turned up to the theatre to view this highly anticipated film. Before it got started there was a red carpet & general milling around to see who all came out. Of course, the main attraction was the film, which people have been looking forward to for some time. Despite the fact that it has been over 20 years since his passing, Tupac is still a very much beloved figure & considered one of the greatest rappers of all time. The film had input from people close to Tupac & gave some background to the stories in which we have heard from headlines & interviews. The movie stars Demetrius Shipp Jr as an uncanny Tupac, Danai Gurira as Afeni Shakur, Kat Graham as Jada Pinkett, Annie Ilonzeh as Kidada Jones as well as Jamal Woolard, Hill Harper, Cory Hardrict, Deray Davis, Clifton Powell, & even Digital Underground’s Money-B who played himself.
The city came out heavy. In attendance was Black Ink Crew Chicago’s Bishop Don & Ashley, Kendra G, Kyle Santillian, Brooke & The Mackie Firm, the legendary George Daniels, Taylor Bennett, The Boy Illinois, Stunt Taylor, Queen Key & many more. All Eyez On Me’s executive producer LT Hutton was on the red carpet as were case members Jarrett Ellis, who played Snoop Dogg, & Chris Clark, who played Shock G better known as Humpty from Digital Underground. There were red carpet interviews & pictures taken. There were some incredible paintings of Tupac on display by Kenneth Hordge. Then it was time to watch the movie.
The movie itself was good. As much as you make think you know about Tupac, the film will open your eyes so much more. Demetrius Shipp Jr did an incredible job embodying Tupac. At times it’s hard to believe it’s not the actual man. As the music played people in the theatre sang along. By the end, some were overcome with emotion. It is definitely worth the money.
After the movie was done it was time for the afterparty at Lite Chicago. Shout out to Briahna Gatlin, Swank PR, LT Hutton, John Doe, PowerMove, I-Mack Ent. & Program Pictures. Check out the video recap from the event below.

The morning before Jermaine Dupri & the contestants & winners of season 1, 2 & 3 of The Rap Game all hit the Chicago Theatre stage for the So So Summer 17 Tour this past Sunday, they joined forces with William Kellibrew & the New Generation of Leaders (NXG) to orchestrate a Teen & Youth Town Hall Meeting at the DuSable Museum of African American History. Not only did the teens & youth get the opportunity to see their favorite artists up close & personal, they left feeling empowered, motivated & inspired about being a leader & following their dreams as they gained a lot of useful information they’ll be able to utilize throughout their entire lives.
Before the Teen & Youth Town Hall Meeting began, Jermaine Dupri along with season 1, 2 & 3 winners Miss Mulatto, Mani & Nova of The Rap Game took to the stage for a quick press conference to discuss The Rap Game, So So Summer 17 Tour & more.
Once the press conference came to an end, William Kellibrew introduced himself & NXG Leaders to the crowd. He educated the crowd on the mission of NXG Leaders & also shared a video of what they’ve done thus far. Kellibrew then introduced Michael Mauldi who took to the stage to introduce himself & elaborate on the importance of being a leader. Mauldi then introduce each panelist which consisted of Jeremy Green, DJ Prince, Supa Peach, Nia Kay, J.I the Prince of N.Y, King Roscoe, Lil Key, DLOW, Mani, Deetranada, Miss Mulatto, Nova & Jermaine Dupri.
After the panelists all joined Mauldi & Kellibrew on stage, Kellibrew provided the panel & crowd with a quick brain exercise that everyone engaged in & enjoyed. Kellibrew then shared the 12 Codes of Leadership & what they each mean. Once everyone was familiar with the 12 Codes of Leadership, Kellibrew asked each panelist which code of leadership they’re able to relate to. This is when the town hall meeting got really interesting & personal. The panelists used the code of leadership to discuss personal situations & obstacles that they each overcame in order to become the leader that they are today. A lot of the stories & advice the panelists shared was much needed. It gave the crowd & even some of the panelists a different perspective of others as well as themselves. The teens & youth had the opportunity to ask the panelists questions & one young lady shared how she has dreams of modeling but her aunt discourages her from doing so because of past experiences she went through. The panel encouraged her to follow her dreams as they each were able to relate to doubters & naysayers. Kellibrew provided the young lady the opportunity to “rip the runaway” in-front of the entire audience & she did just that!
As the town hall meeting came to an end, each panelist was given the opportunity to share a few words of encouragement & advice to the entire crowd about being a leader & following their dreams.
Sending a special thank you to Catrice Armstrong of PR Werks for extending an invite to us. Special thanks to NXG Leaders, So So Def Records & Scream Nation for providing our teens & youth of Chicago with a much needed town hall meeting.

There’s a new flavor of CIROC out & it’s called CIROC Summer Colada! Sounds refreshing & definitely seems like the perfect alcohol consumption for the Summer. But keep in mind it’s for a limited time only. Personally, I look forward to having a few shots of the new flavor myself very soon – for refreshment purposes only, of course.
Friday night, Cassie was here in the city – Chicago that is, in the Gold Coast area with a few friends & bottles of CIROC Summer Colada at Room Seven to host the Official CIROC Summer Colada Launch Party. Fans of Cassie not only got the chance to taste the new flavor of CIROC, but also got the opportunity to meet & take pictures with Cassie as well. Carl Anthony Payne from the hit TV series Martin was also in attendance & did a bit of mixing & mingling throughout the evening.
When CIROC Summer Colada first released last week, Diddy took to social media to announce the release of CIROC Summer Colada & state the following: BREAKING NEWS!!! #CirocSummerColada hits liquor stores TODAY! It’s LIMITED EDITION! You’ve been warned! If you don’t get your orders in you risk not being a part of the #CirocSummer! This is the special one right here!! Saturday afternoon was about all about networking, uplifting & empowering at the Executives & Co. Women Empowerment Brunch presented & hosted by Life Coach Nesha, CEO of Executive Behavior at the Hyatt Place South. What’s a empowerment brunch without a delicious brunch, mimosas & sweets to satisfy everyone’s taste buds while introducing themselves & their business(es) to other fellow executives.
In the midst of everyone networking, Life Coach Nesha introduce speakers, Life Coach Trenity of T3 Life Coaching; Christina King of BO Essentials; Lencia Marshall of LLM International; & Shenita H of Shenita Enterprise. Everyone in attendance was definitely able to relate & learn from each speaker as they each shared insightful information not only about their business(es) but also about themselves, their aspirations & their personal journeys thus far. Shenita really stood out to me as she shared her story about being married for majority of her adult life & now divorce. Although it’s been a journey for her to regain her life back & adapting to being a single woman again, she’s maintaining & doing quite well at it. Lencia also stood out to me as well as she spoke on the importance of making a name for yourself by being financially knowledgeable & equipped. Your credit score does make a difference.
Each vendor was also given the opportunity to introduce themselves & their products. Sugar Rimz Bartending was one of the crowd’s favorite as they served signature drinks such as Watermelon Cooler, Watermelon Slices, Apple Delight, Blue Sea Margarita & Candy Girl. Berry Berry Sweets & Scratch My Batch were both another favorite vendor as their sweets were depleted almost immediately after being displayed. Life Coach Nesha added vendor in addition to her role as the host & presenter as she signed copies of her CEO Sessions: Taking Charge Of My Life journals to those who purchased them.
Ayanna Clark & Jasmine Bagget of Majostee Allstar and Regina Titsworth of My-Gina’s Christian Child Care & Community Services, Inc., both introduced their organizations & informed everyone on how they could become involved. Regina’s youngest daughter who happens to be an aspiring make-up artist offered make-up services to all the attendees at no charge. Nikki B. & Jennifer Nashae, two out of three Leading Ladies of Chicago was introduced by Nesha herself for having a major impact on her life career wise. Tears begin to shed, but not for long as Nikki stood & elaborated from Nesha’s introduction of her being a real estate broker & star of Lifetime’s newest hit series, Bringing Up Ballers.
Before everyone departed, Nesha thanked everyone for coming out as she supplied gift bags & Regina asked everyone to join her in prayer.
Thank you Life Coach Nesha for putting together such an amazing & uplifting event.

By now, you should be tuned in to Lifetime each & every Wednesday at 10/9C to catch the new hit docu-series, Bringing Up Ballers starring 5 Chicago entrepreneurs/mothers; Nikki B., Peytyn, Heather, Johanna & Tiffany along with their kids who just so happen to be some of the most elite basketball players in the nation. Things definitely get real on & off the court while bringing up a baller.
With yesterday being the debut of episode 2, Nikki B. held a viewing & after party at Velvet Lounge, where she answered any questions that everyone presented and on social media’s Live had about episode 2 & the show in general. DJ Shotime provided the soundtrack before, in-between commercial breaks & after the show. Peytyn eventually joined Nikki B. after the premiere of episode 2 to engage in a little Live Q & A and to also inform the crowd of the next viewing party for episode 3 which will be held at Peytyn’s restaurant Truth Italian, located 56 E. Pershing Rd.
Be sure to follow Nikki B. & Peytyn on all social media at @SheNikkiB & @PeytynWillborn and use the official hashtag, #BringingUpBallers to share your thoughts about the show.

Yesterday evening, we had the honor of getting up close & personal with Hill Harper at Renaissance Bronzeville courtesy of Shun Dyes & John McClendon.
It being our first time at Renaissance Bronzeville, it’s safe to say it definitely won’t be our last. It is situated in the heart of historic Bronzeville on 46th & King drive, just blocks away from Harold Washington Cultural Center. It just opened in November & if you have not been, you should check it out.
Everyone engaged in conversation with one another while waiting on Harper to arrive. Prior to Harper’s arrival, some of Chicago’s most elite professionals such as WGCI’s Kyle Santillian, J.Ivy, Bringing Up Ballers’ Peytyn Willborn & Nikki B., Fox 32 Chicago’s Darlene Hill, Damon Williams & many more took pictures & interacted with the crowd. It wasn’t long after that Harper walked in & headed to the front to engage in a little picture taking & interviewing himself.
Kyle then properly introduced Harper & from there Harper spoke on his skin care line, H2L for men & JUA for women. The lines are all natural & judging by Harper’s skin, we trust his skin care secrets. Harper also shared a few skin care tips from what to avoid, paying attention to ingredients & more insightful advice. Not only did Harper speak about his skin care, he applied the skin care product on several individuals in the audience in order for them to get a better understanding & feeling of his products.
The audience were given the opportunity to ask Harper questions as well as take pictures with him before he departed.
Thanks to Hill Harper for showing the city love & having his event at a Black-owned venue, which we hear was important to him. Also gratitude as always to Catrice Armstrong & PR Werks for the plug. For more information on the products go to www.bejua.com. To learn more about the venue go to www.renaissancebronzeville.com.

Yesterday evening, we had the pleasure of attending Kerese & Kristle Millen, also known as the Millen Twins’ Book Signing Party at The Connection for their newly released book, There’s Power In Your “I Am”.
As guests arrived with their copy of There’s Power In Your “I Am” in hand, they were greeted & offered hors d’oeuvres & complimentary wine or champagne, whichever they preferred. Many guests mingled amongst each other, pictures were being taken, music was provided by DJ Flo, & the hosts of the evening, Kenneth Sean & Lauran Smith conducted interviews on the red carpet. In the midst of things, the Millen Twins arrived & was welcomed by a round of applause as they entered into The Connection by their guests before sitting up front & center for the book signing.
After everyone’s copy of There’s Power In Your “I Am” had been officially signed by its authors, Kenneth & Lauran greeted the guests once again on the microphone before introducing Kerese & Kristle Millen. The Millen Twins shared an excerpt from There’s Power In Your “I Am” as well as what inspired them to write the book. The audience was even given the opportunity to ask The Millen Twins any questions that they may have about themselves and/or There’s Power In Your “I Am”.
Once The Millen Twins answered their last question, they shared what they believe will happen with their book & claimed that it will happen in due time because it’s always best to speak things into existence. The Millen Twins then presented an award to their honoree of the evening, Nikki B., who stars on Lifetime’s newest reality TV show, Bringing Up Ballers. Nikki spoke on how she & the Millen Twins first met before providing a little history of herself & Bringing Up Ballers. Sentimental moments were definitely shared.
Before introducing the next speaker, Kenneth asked that everyone extended their arms forward as he said a prayer for the Millen Twins. The Millen Twins’ mother shared a little background of what the Millen Twins’ childhood was like as she prepared to provide a toast to her daughters. The Millen Twins then presented their mother with flowers.
Before everyone resumed mingling, dancing & taking pictures, Kenneth announced the raffle winners of the evening. The Millen Twins headed back to their official There’s Power In Your “I Am” backdrop to take pictures with their guests.
There’s Power In Your “I Am” is now available at barnesandnoble.com.

Saturday, March 25th DA presents the 4th Annual This Is Life: Stop The Violence Event at The Salvation Army Adele & Robert Stern Red Shield Center located 945 W. 69th Street right here in Chicago from 12PM to 4PM hosted by Nia Kay & T-Star.
“This is Life” clothing line was founded by 14 -year-old Student, Rapper and CEO, Dorian Adams (DA) on December 2013, due to the overflow of violence in the City of Chicago. Dorian was inspired to write “This is Life”, a song to bring awareness to the ongoing issue of gun violence that he is exposed to every day. Following the creation of the song, Dorian was self-motivated to draw more attention to the “This is Life” movement by launching a clothing line. The idea was to physically have the people of Chicago represent the brand as walking billboards and spread the word by posting their photos via social media using the hashtag #ThisIsLife.
Now that you know more about DA & the This Is Life movement, not only will DA along with other influencers in Chicago bring awareness to the violence that has been occurring throughout the city, there will be This Is Life merchandise available for purchase & live performances by some of Chicago’s rising stars such as: KPhi-9, Jigga, Instanity, Deja, Royal Flush Dance Team, Legendary Kids, King Caesar & more. DA himself will also bless the stage.
Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door. For more information call (773) 916-7059 or email: firstname.lastname@example.org. To join the This Is Life movement and stay updated with upcoming releases and events follow @ThisIsLifeclothing @Short_Sensation on Instagram and Facebook.
Below are recaps of the 1st & 2nd This Is Life: Stop the Violence event:
Yesterday evening we had the privilege of attending Timothy Francis Jones Foundation presents the 2nd annual Timbuck 2 Forever at the Metro. Chicago definitely showed up & showed out the right way on #Timbuck2Tuesday in honor of the legendary, DJ Timbuck 2.
There were so many positive vibes surrounding the Metro as DJs such as Mike P, Jayilla, Holt, Milehigh, V-Dub, Mustafa Rocks, Jamal Smallz, Bman, J Green Lantern & so many more great DJs each blessed the stage mixed & mastered classic Hip Hop & R&B hits that the sold out crowd danced to & sung along with, frequently placing two fingers in the form of a peace sign in the air representing Timbuck 2. Timbuck 2 is such a large part of Chicago & did so much for music. It was great to see so many come out & represent.
What I loved most about last night was how each DJ supported & showed one another genuine love during their segments. There were moments where DJs MC’d as other DJs mixed hit after hit. There was even a moment where Mustafa Rocks got the entire crowd into his mix & G.O.O.D. Music’s Holt stepped in front of the stage to break dance – pure awesomeness!
The DJs weren’t the only entertainment for the evening, Phil G, Mic Terror & Joey Purp each took the stage to bless the mic. There were plenty major Chicagoans in the building, including comedian Lil Rel, YP, Fashion Geek Zo, PHLI’s Dave Jeff, & DJ Oreo. WGCI represented as Leon Rogers & Tone Capone showed their support. Timbuck 2’s mother sent a video message that captured everyone’s undivided attention.
The main purpose of last night was to pay homage to Timbuck 2 & to raise awareness for cancer. All proceeds made last night from admission, merchandise & etc. will be donated to a cancer research center. We cannot wait for next year’s event. Rest in peace to DJ Timbuck 2, may his legacy continue to live on.
