Last night was the BET Hip Hop Awards 2014 and it was definitely a very interesting show.
As we all know, the highlights from the Hip Hop Awards are the performances and the cyphers. Artists from all over who are well-known as well as up & coming come together and spit some of the hottest lyrics you ever heard.
Simply Brown: Many artists came out and definitely had the crowd turned up to the max. But the performance that stood out to me the most was Common. Not only did he bring out Jay Electronica and Vince Staples to rip the stage with true Hip Hop lyrics, he also brought out the parents of Mike Brown and the entire audience raised their hands as well as had a moment of silence. Such a beautiful and yet power moment.
K: I loved the reunion of Brandy, MC Lyte, Yo-Yo, & Queen Latifah. It was a great moment. It took me right back to the 90’s. All of the women looked amazing & it reminded me how great that remix is.
Highlight Of The Night
Simply Brown: My highlight of the night was Doug E Fresh. From the power speech/freestyle to the live beat boxing performance. Doug E. Fresh is definitely one of the best.
K: My highlights were the scenes with Snoop & Nia Long. Those were really funny. So was the moment with him & Mimi. I also hit the Shmoney dance hard when Bobby Shmurda performed.
Simply Brown: There was quite a few dope cyphers but my favorite has to be Murda Mook. He had the entire crowd up and out of their seats and a lot of mouths got dropped listening to his verses. Murda Mook is a true lyricist.
K: I agree. Murda Mook was the best one of the night. The ladies also showed out last night. The moment with Remy & Papoose was cute as well. David Banner also went off & dropped some real knowledge. Overall the cyphers were great.
Although we had Chicago native bless the stage for a performance, and one (Vic Mensa) cypher was aired. Shout out to Chicago’s own female hip hop princess, Dreezy for also ripping the Cypher was well. Here’s The Digital All-Star Cypher featuring Emilio Rojas, Dreezy, Conceited, Retro Jace, Dillon Cooper and Andy Mineo:
*****Please note: the actual cypher will play, just allow both commercials to play first.*****
