Wednesday, December 10th, Amnesty International & Donda’s House along with Hadiya’s Promise will present Write For Rights at the Lacuna Lofts. Come out & help create for change!
Amnesty International, Donda’s House Inc. and Hadiya’s Promise are partnering to host a Write-A-Thon for students (High School, College & Young Adults). Free food, live performances and the opportunity to create art and write letters around gun violence and police brutality/torture. Also featuring a “BET” Style Rap Cypher!
Write For Rights is an opportunity for artists to create art for social change. It is also an opportunity for citizens to right letters that could make life better for themselves & their community at large. You would be surprised how much can change when people come together & demand it. Along with a great opportunity to incite change there will also be live performances & free food.
We have spoken about Donda’s House before. Hadiya’s Promise is a foundation based in Chicago that is fighting against gun violence. After losing their daughter Hadiya last year, Nate & Cleopatra Pendleton decided to form a foundation to keep their daughter’ s legacy alive & find solutions to prevent more parents from suffering the same fate. For more information on how to support go to hadiyaspromise.org.
The event will take place at 2150 S. Canalport Ave at Lacuna Lofts in Chicago from 6pm to 9pm. If you want to come out you have to RSVP at dondashouseinc.org/news.
Even if you are unable to make it, you can still participate. Go to write.amnestyusa.org for more info. All those statuses, tweets, & instagram posts you make being deep can easily become a work of art or letter that can really help make a difference.
