We were fortunate enough to talk ish with Chundria Stanback!!! Chundria Stanback is the host of her very own talk show entitled “The Chundria Stanback Show.” Chundria Stanback has interviewed a countless number of up and comers and celebrities and has plans on excelling even further in her career. Lets get to know Chundria Stanback…
3 Voices: For those who may not know, introduce them to Chundria Stanback & what you do.
Chundria: Life keeps be busy in the media world. I host my own TV Talk Show called The Chundria Stanback Show that features the best in fashion, music and beauty! I also run CSS Digital Inc., a multi-media firm that provides graphic design and multi-media services for individuals, corporations and small businesses! When I’m not producing my show or bringing media projects to life for others, I am also give back to the community through my media arts program called Media Masters Foundation! I teach youth to use media to combat violence, teen pregnancy, bullying, sexually transmitted diseases and other epidemics that plague our community.
3 Voices: When did you know that you wanted to be involved with Television? Who were some of your influences?
Chundria: At 12 years old, I was pretty set on becoming a meteorologist and embraced it through research and active study. However, an opportunity to visit a live TV News broadcast as a teen changed me. I was so curious on how everything in the studio worked together to create the images I see on TV. I’ve always been interested in writing and character development. Media interested me more as I was able to use it to bring my characters to life in short films and videos. Oprah Winfrey and Tyler Perry are hands down two of my biggest influences. They both have developed empires in an industry they are passionate about and have never been above giving back to the community.
3 Voices: After graduating from Columbia College, you went on to intern for ABC 7 & WCIU. What was those experiences like?
Chundria: I LOVED my internships. They actually both taken in my senior year at Columbia College. Nonetheless, it was such a beautiful, real-world experience outside of the classroom and student-run studios. WCIU was solely a production-based experience, where I was able to apply my skill set in actual programming and broadcasts. At ABC 7 News, I shadowed Reporter John Garcia. He taught me so much about news journalism and also the interest to work in front of the camera. Prior to the internship, I was always more interested in writing, producing and directing productions.
3 Voices: You have interviewed some pretty big names. Who were some of your favorites & what was it like talking to them?
Chundria: Yes, you’re right. I have interviewed some big names. However, meeting and interviewing Queen Latifah, Tia Mowry-Hardrict Chrisette Michele, and Robin Thicke were some of my favorite moments because I’m incredibly huge fans of theirs. In my experience, they were all very easy going and down-to-earth.
3 Voices: You worked on Flair TV for a while. What was that show like? What did it teach you?
Chundria: One thing to know about me is that I’m an opportunist and I’m a creative type. I thought of Flair TV one random day standing at my kitchen sink. I was eager to get more professional experience in my field after graduation. Instead of waiting around for TV stations to give me that opportunity, I created my own. I thank God that he placed the right group of people in my life to develop the brand and bring it to the life and the TV screens. The growth of the show is what was most awesome! It was my next real world experience as an entrepreneur created my own brand. It was great to attend some of the most awesome high profile events and conduct some of the most memorable interviews. I remember being in media pits with TV stations and outlets that I had applied for jobs with and didn’t receive. It taught me to continually go after my dreams and also to ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS be a student and never stop learning.
3 Voices: Tell us about the Chundria Stanback show. What can we expect?
Chundria: After continually going out to cover events as media for nearly 7 years, I am ready to take my career in media to the next level with my own TALK SHOW. All Spring and Summer long I hosted events all over the city and even in a couple cities across the country before filming my Talk Show Pilot in August. The show features the best in Fashion, Beauty and Music and I am looking forward to filming the entire season in January 2014. My production team of 25 people is working diligently to bring my viewers the latest and greatest and can’t wait to share it. Everyone always asks what kind of show do I have? I always say that if Steve Harvey and Tyra Banks had a talk show love child, it would be and Oprah would be the godmother. The show is fun, high energy yet features inspirational moments as well. There’s hot fashion, beauty makeovers, epic performances and also life-changing experiences for some guests too!
3 Voices: What can we look forward to from Chundria Stanback productions? Are there any exclusives you can share?
Chundria: Aside from filming the full season of the talk show, Chundria Stanback Studios is writing and producing a sitcom and a short film for release in first quarter of 2014. We’re in talks to submit to some film festivals and do our part to bring more shows, and opportunities for actors and crew in Chicago. I’m still that same Columbia College student back in 2004 who was hard-pressed on producing and directing for the screen. There’s so much more in store.
