This past Wednesday, I had the privilege of stopping by Chicago Excel Academy Roseland to get a glimpse of their 1st Annual Employment Fair. Upon walking in, I immediately noticed the excitement on the student’s face as some were being treated to hairdos, haircuts & manicures by Cains Barber College, House of Hedera, Melah J Nails & Ashley Lynn Beauty while Pullman Bank & Trust, J.P Morgan Chase Bank & Mass Mutual Financial Group provided additional social services that would most beneficial when it comes to employment seeking. To assure that each student had a clear mind & was completely prepared for their chance to obtain employment, complimentary breakfast was provided by Dreamyvents & lunch was provided by Chef Martinez Chapman Culinary.
Chicago Excel Academy Roseland not only managed to assist their students with looking the part & having the necessary materials needed to seek employment, Chicago Excel also brought actual employers such as Walgreens, Wendy’s, GameStop, Dominos, What’s The Word TV, Cook County Forest Preserve, Chicago Urban League, Guide Right Organization, Skills for Chicagoland Future, One Summer Chicago & Mikva Challenge to their Roseland location to conduct mock interview for positions that are currently available within their business.
Many thanks, gratitude, and appreciation for your uplift and support of the 1st Annual Employment Fair on behalf of Chicago Excel Academy Roseland. Wednesday’s fair was a testament to dedication, determination, diligence, and difference. Students became familiar with various businesses and organizations. Through these avenues each student left compelled to broaden their horizons, advance their knowledge and hone their skill set in: workforce development, job readiness, mock interviews, business etiquette, and resume building. – Colby Chapman (Career Education Coordinator).
